Augmented Reality

For SAGE this year, I presented on Augmented Reality with my classmate Sarah Brown. Using Aurasma as our program of choice, we explained what augmented reality was, and how it could be used in the classroom. We demonstrated how it was used, and then guided our group through the creation of their own Aura.

Deliver Northern MB Professional Development

As a class group at Red River College, we contacted the Frontier School Division of Norther MB to initiate a project with them. Some of these schools are remotely located, so we wanted to virtually provide them with professional development on the integration of technology into their curriculum and classrooms. The two areas that I covered were using Prezi, and a lesson on SmartBoards. I was able to use the eTV studio at the college to live stream my presentation.

Global Youth Debates

The Global Youth Debates is a project developed to provide an opportunity for students to participate in a globally collaborative debate. I participated in this project as a lead teacher, and provided a lesson to the students and teachers involved, on how to use voicethread for their debates.

Global Education Conference 2013

As a class we presented at the Global Education Conference about our experiences in flipping classrooms, and in presenting to the world outside of our four walls. We began by discussing the application of our ICT Methods textbook written by Julie Lindsay and Vicki Davis. The title of the text is "Flattening Classrooms, Engaging Minds". Next we explained various projects we had participated in throughout the year, and finally, how these projects linked to pedagodgy in the classroom. This included the ISTE standards, and the Horizon Report.

15 Hour Project

This semester we were assigned an inquiry project. We were to spend 15 hours outside of our classtime to learn how to do something we had always wanted to do, but never dedicated the time to. The idea was to show us how the element of adding choice to a school assignment changes the dynamic in which students approach learning. My topic was how to bake a really great cookie, analyzing the different ingredients and their effects on the final product. To track my progress, I created a website and made a video.
